Recent breakthrough inOral Cancer Research

The Beljanski Foundation is pleased to report that a new publication “Flavopereirine Suppresses the Progression of Human Oral Cancer by Inhibiting the JAK-STAT Signaling Pathway via Targeting LASP1” has come to show the benefits of this natural β-carboline alkaloid isolated from Geissospermum vellosii (Pao pereira). Numerous studies have already revealed that flavopereirine exhibits potent anti-cancer activities in various human cancers cell lines.

This publication, funded independently from the support of the Beljanski Foundation, underscores the increasing interest around the world of researchers for Dr. Mirko Beljanski’s discoveries, and the wide benefits of natural medicine.

According to the Oral Cancer Foundation, the actual curative treatment modalities are usually chemotherapy with concurrent radiation, sometimes combined with surgery. Oral cancer has therefore a high death rate, killing roughly 1 person per hour, and only a 57% survival chance at 5 years.

The importance of this study is crucial. The research shows that flavopereirine could significantly inhibit proliferation, invasion and migration of cancer cells.
