As someone who is not much a reader, being able to listen to this book was truly amazing. It gave me incredible information in a way that worked for me. Thank you Beljanski Foundation!
The Beljanski foundation was created to further the research of the French biologist, Dr. Mirko Beljanski. After his death, Sylvie Beljanski, his daughter, promised to continue his legacy by continuing his pioneering work involving natural, botanical extracts being alternatives and combined therapies in the treatment of several cancers. Sylvie has written a non-fiction memoir describing her family’s work and her own lifelong commitment to further this research called Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure.
In 1971, Richard Nixon declared a commitment to wage a war on cancer, and in the forty years that have followed, billions of dollars have been spent in this pursuit. Although some progress has been made in early detection, progress in treatment does not compare favorably. Dr. Mirko Beljanski and his wife were natural product developers, who discovered the complimentary powers of Pao Pereira, a native Amazonian tree, and Rauwolfia Vomitoria, an African tree bark. His monumental finding that these natural extracts can inhibit reverse transcriptase and block cancer stem cells, made this a natural treatment for cancer patients that can work in synergy with the traditional medical conventions of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The French president, Francois Mitterrand, used these natural remedies. Suffering from prostate cancer, he sought the help of Dr. Beljanski. With little chance of recovery, he began taking these plant extracts and his health improved, allowing him to serve a second term of presidency. With these positive and encouraging results, the Beljanski’s were shocked to experience persecution from French government officials and the military. Unexpectedly, their lab was raided, their equipment destroyed, products confiscated, and they were placed under arrest. With these suspicious circumstances and the following death of Mirko Beljanski, his daughter, Sylvie, promised she would carry on this important work for the greater good of humankind and carry on her father’s legacy. The book describes this huge undertaking of creating the Beljanski Foundation and all the work and dedication in bringing these natural plant extracts into the medical treatment mainstream.
What I most appreciated about this memoir was the clarification of how these natural extracts are designed to be used in harmony with traditional medical therapies. On picking this book to review I wondered if it would be negative in content to the cancer treatment protocol, surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. This was not the case at all, and it was very interesting to read how the two approaches can work hand in hand. It was fascinating and encouraging to learn that these extracts could be important in prevention. It was also disheartening to learn about how prevention isn’t at the forefront of the pharmaceutical company’s agenda, because of the economic consequences. The author explains that we cannot patent natural products, as they are from nature and belong to everybody, unlike synthetic pharmaceuticals that can be patented, branded and create billion-dollar industries. It’s discouraging to know that vast conglomerates are more motivated by profits than the prevention of disease.
As well as the scientific parts of the book, there is some great content regarding the author’s life, her feelings and the adventures that she has had in her pursuit to harvest these natural extracts. My favorite part of the novel is the descriptions of her trip to the Amazon to hunt for the Pao Pereira tree. This was a huge undertaking into an inhospitable jungle. With basic accommodation, exotic wildlife and an unplanned dip into the Rio Negro, this was a journey of an explorer on a mission to find a hidden treasure.
The book contains scientific information which is not complex and could be extra information for a reader who doesn’t have any background in biology and medical science. The author has done an outstanding job in making this information reader-friendly and some explanations are repeated, such as how carcinogens disrupt DNA. I felt some things didn’t need to be repeated as often, but I can see the advantage to clarify information.
With all things considered, I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. It was informative, and I found myself interested in its content. The repetition did not spoil the experience for me, and there wasn’t anything else I disliked. I experienced the book on audible, read by Jane M. Stafford and I didn’t find any errors in her narration. There isn’t any profanity or sexual themes included, but a lot of medical and scientific content, so I think it is suited to adults and younger students who may have interests in this area. I would advise readers not be put off by the serious subject of the book; it is very interesting and puts a different light on the cancer industry as well as including thought-provoking content regarding health, disease prevention and finding a better path to help the future of the planet.
The War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure by Sylvie Beljanski. If you are looking for an ordinary, run-of-the-mill, cookie-cutter, tree-hugger type of book on holistic or healthy living, then this book is probably not for you. However, if you want something intriguing (borderline shocking), weightier, and backed by hard science, then read on.
The War on Cancer is both a memoir and a mind-boggling exposé on a decades-old discovery on a natural cure for not only cancer but even the AIDS virus and the politics surrounding this. It is a book detailing the author’s truly epic journey on continuing her late father’s work. The author, Sylvie Beljanski, is French. She is a lawyer and the founder of both the Beljanski Foundation and Maison Beljanski. The author’s father, Dr. Mirko Beljanski, was one of the first green molecular biologists. He spearheaded the treatment of cancer and AIDS by using, amongst other things, Pao Pereira. Towards the end of his life, his government, along with other pharmaceutical companies, sought to destroy, discredit, and tarnish his work and name. His daughter has made it her life’s mission to carry on the legacy of her father and to bring to light both the good and bad surrounding his work.
I found The War on Cancer to be highly informative and incredibly insightful. As they say, you really don’t know what you don’t know. The book is stunning, in every sense of the word; it is both shocking and beautifully written. Clearly, I enjoyed reading the book, but its content goes far beyond entertainment value; the information contained in it is literally life-changing. People suffering from certain diseases could have their health and lives restored! This is a book that the entire world needs to know about. The lengths to which Big Pharma and certain national authorities would go for the sake of greed, power, and money are truly despicable.
There was nothing not to like. The book’s material is top quality in all aspects: content, intrigue, structure, and flawless editing. Despite being rather scientific, it is not dry at all. I love that even with the many detailed scientific terms presented, the book is still very readable and easily digestible for the layman. However, it has not been dumbed-down; it is a real educational experience, and one may need to look up certain information from the book on the internet for better understanding. However, if I could change one thing, it would probably be the book’s cover. I may not be a graphic designer, but I believe a more eye-catching or dramatic cover would be more appealing and do the book more justice.
Who needs to read this book? Everyone! However, this book would be most helpful for AIDS and cancer patients or their caregivers, be it doctors or their family members. The remedies presented are not only confined to AIDS or cancer but also many other ailments. If you love reading or researching alternative, holistic, natural treatments, then this book is for you.
All in all, I highly recommend The War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure by Sylvie Beljanski. The book is eye-opening, informative, insightful, and excellently written. It is a piece of writing whose information should be made widely available. It easily gets a 5 out of 5 stars rating from me.
Sylvie Beljanski, the author of Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure, begins her book by discussing a presentation delivered by her father. He had conducted significant studies on natural anti-cancer compounds. Regrettably, the French government undermined and discarded his research. Later, when he lost access to his medication, he died at the hands of carcinogenic chemicals. Sylvie Beljanski becomes inspired to continue her father’s work and introduces the research to the United States.
Sylvie Beljanski works as an attorney and joins forces with her father’s former colleagues to form the Beljanski Foundation. They collaborate with researchers at Columbia University and later source suppliers of these cancer-fighting herbs. The herbs identified target cancer cells, maintain white blood cells, and platelet count during chemotherapy. The author attached a dosing and scheduling guide for using these herbs for various forms of cancer.
What I liked most about this book was the inspiration to not only further her father’s legacy but also to use his work to help others. She generously attached the dosing schedule in the appendix. However, I am wary of it because dosing cannot be applied so simplistically.
I did not read the supporting scientific literature yet, but I had a quick scan at them. It appears impeccably sourced and published by reputable journals. The findings do not negate western medicine but enhance clinical and symptomatic outcomes. I strongly recommend readers collaborate with their doctors when using this regime.
I rate the book 5 out of 5 stars. I recommend this book to all those diagnosed with cancer, friends and family of cancer patients and health care professionals.
5 out of 5
Every single person has encountered, knows someone, or has experienced, the disease cancer. I need to start by saying, I myself am a two-time cancer survivor at 28 years old. I have always wondered, “What caused this?” “Was there anything that could have been done differently?” This book is filled with references, scientific data, and gives hope to those going through adversity. It is very eye-opening, to read someone else’s incredible story and journey with cancer on a completely different level. What I loved the most was there was a story behind it, you could feel the passion and the need to help to figure out why cancer is the second leading cause of death globally and how to cure it naturally.
Sylvie Beljanski has shared her blood, sweat, and tears through this book, to carry on The Beljanski Foundation. This offers a completely different view of what we are all experiencing currently and offers solutions. Most patients are diagnosed with a death sentence by their doctors with zero hope. Alternative and holistic medicine has been around for centuries, our own mother nature offers healing modalities through plants. The suppression of holistic medicine and the healing benefits is not shocking. This is the reality and I am happy to say I also ventured into the holistic healing for my own health, it worked.
What is fascinating is the biggest “pandemics” that have gone on throughout history, such as AIDS, the rise in infertility, cancer, politics and big pharma seem to always play a big role. To push highly toxic drugs that have more symptoms and may not even help. The Beljanski family has proven that holistic therapy works and cures viral and cancer cells. The bold effort to bring this information forward is no easy task. Backlash and denial from many including political and big pharma. The people need this information, I implore anyone to read this book, we need to all know this information. This is a MUST read/listen.
On the internet, I once came across this quote: “one healed patient equals one lost customer.” I thought it was exaggerating at first, but the more I looked at it and thought about it, the more it made sense. So when I saw this book titled Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure by Sylvie Beljanski, I got interested because it promised to talk about natural cures of cancer that exist but are blocked by big pharmaceutical companies to protect their interests, not of the people and the patients. Not only is this book shocking, but it is also unbelievably good and educative!
In the introduction of the book, the author gives us the statistics of cancer. She shows how a lot of people are diagnosed with cancer, and she also reflects on how these numbers are predicted to rise soon. She also shows how the US government has responded by investing billions of dollars in fighting this scourge. But what the author is really saying is that cancer has turned to be a billion-dollar industry. Medication and treatments for cancer have continued to skyrocket in the few recent years. Pharmaceutical companies, who have their hands in the jar, are prepared to monopolize by fighting off the natural cures as they can’t be patented, meaning they can’t be controlled, resulting in them not being able to profit off of them.
In the first chapter titled, “Finding My Voice,” Sylvie shares how, as a child, both her parents didn’t give her the attention she yearned for. She shares how they were always caught up in their work and how she suffered silently alone. She also narrates that the French President, François Mitterrand, was diagnosed with cancer and was expected to die in two years. But because he was determined to finish his term, he was recommended to Mirko Beljanski, PhD., the author’s father. Mitterrand took the prescribed medication, and he went on to live more than two years, enabling him to finish his term, surprising everyone. In chapter two, titled “Destruction,” the author narrates how her father’s laboratory was ransacked by the police to sabotage his research.
The rest of the book tells of the work of Mirko Beljanski, PhD. His work threatened the greedy, big pharmaceutical companies. Sylvie decided to carry on with his father’s vision after he passed on by starting The Beljanski Foundation to educate people more about the natural cures of cancer and advocating for cancer patients’ rights.
This book lived up to its promise. I was shocked by the greediness of these big pharmaceutical companies that they can do anything just to secure their own financial gains. Through this book, one can say that the author was not only raising awareness, she was also advocating for cancer patients’ rights, fighting for her father’s legacy by protecting it, and, at the same time, snapping people out of their ignorance. All the things she talked about made sense. Big pharmaceutical companies make money through the synthetic drugs that they produce and distribute. So natural drugs can’t be patented, meaning they can’t be owned. What I liked is that the author wasn’t entirely discrediting the synthetic drugs. She was just pleading for the integration of both synthetic and natural drugs. What I loved again is that the author’s theories and products have been backed by scientific research and signed by relevant experts in the field.
This book was well written. The author is indeed brave. She travelled to Brazil and walked on roads she had never thought she would ever walk in her life. Again, for her to put her career as a lawyer on hold like that so she can focus on the foundation she co-founded was just something else.
I liked the fact that this book was very organized. I loved how the author integrated different writing methods. In some parts, it read like a novel. I got to journey with the author as she was doing things she never thought she would ever do.
Taking everything into consideration, I rate this book 5 out of 5 stars. I came across few errors, which didn’t affect the quality of the book. I recommend it to everyone interested in learning more about cancer and these alternative natural cures discovered by the late Mirko Beljanski.
No good deed goes unpunished. Beljanski developed a natural cure for cancer. When the former president of France fell ill with cancer and was thought by all to be dying, Beljanski’s extracts helped extend his life. This development angered some whose political agendas were distorted, as well as some pharmaceutical companies that felt threatened. Consequently, Beljanski’s lab was ransacked, he, his wife, and his entire team were arrested, and they confiscated all his research. He might have been poisoned as well, on this occasion because shortly after, he suddenly developed a type of cancer that progressed rapidly. Sadly, he had no access to his own invention, which he had used to help several people heal in the past.
When Beljanski was on his deathbed, his daughter Sylvie Beljanski, the author of this book, made three promises to him. Read the book to find out what they were, whether she has fulfilled those promises, and the price she might have had to pay.
Winning the War on Cancer tells a gripping tale about the struggle between good and evil. It also gives scientific knowledge about cancer, its different causes, and the treatments out there and their side effects.
What I love most about this book is how the author narrates her father’s story in a fascinating fashion and how a lot of scientific information is mixed in with the narration so the book is never boring. Easy language is also used so that those who know very little about cancer research or biology will understand the contents and follow the book easily. I found not a single grammatical error in the book so; the editor did a fantastic job. I listened to the audiobook version however, so perhaps those reading the printed version will have a different experience with this.
There is nothing I dislike about the book. It is emotionally gripping, enlightening, and scary at the same time. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars for all the above reasons.
Those who are interested in the subject of cancer and its research, science, biology and non-fiction will enjoy this book. Those who dislike these subjects may dislike the book.
I can’t stop wondering, if there are some powerful forces who will go to unbelievable lengths to prevent cheaper, safer cures for cancer, HIV/AIDS and infertility from reaching the public, who knows what else are they keeping from the public? Food for thought.
