Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure

If you are a fan of alternative medicine or have a head for science, this book should be on your reading bucket list. “Winning the War on Cancer: The Epic Journey Towards a Natural Cure” is both controversial and undeniable. In it, author Sylvie Beljanski tells the story of her father, Dr. Mirko Beljanski and his crusade to fight cancer naturally.
After having discovered two plant extracts that target pancreatic and ovarian cancer stem cells, Dr. Beljanski’s research efforts are nearly obliterated by the French government. The significance of Beljanski’s findings and the subsequent trials and tribulations he and his team face all combine to create a read similar to a thriller novel.
Initially, Sylvie’s book paints a dismal picture of botanical medicine. She describes the rift between pharmaceutical drug companies and researchers of natural remedies. The author cites that the greatest obstacle for natural medicine is that it cannot compete with money making synthetic drug companies. As she continues on, Beljanski remains hopeful. She adopts her father’s mission to provide legal proof of the benefit of natural medicine and advocate for its widespread distribution.
As a practicing attorney, the author submits numerous facts and historical details to persuade readers to take up the fight for access to alternative medicine. In addition, Beljanski interjects her story with plenty of personal and patient narratives to lend a human quality to the material presented. Her stories bring you face to face with the problem.
There is no need to possess a science background to read this book, but it can be daunting at times. It behooves you to stay tuned in, however, as the information imparted is valuable and eye opening. Sylvie Beljanski does well to educate and validate the importance of plant extracts and stem cell research by providing understandable analogies and terminology. Her descriptions are intended to bring the concepts out of the lab so that the information is accessible to the average person. She does this so thrillingly that her story makes you want to keep turning pages.
Beljanski’s voice is convincing and impressive. She expresses herself with a proficient medical vocabulary. The processes of DNA, RNA, HIV and various cancer formations are clearly and adequately explained. Her tone is insistent yet Beljanski’s assertions are certainly reasonable considering her family’s ordeal and the importance of the subject. As it happens, the enthusiasm she exerts only adds more validity to the text.
In “Winning the War on Cancer,” Sylvie Beljanski accomplishes her intention - to publicize the adversity placed on natural cancer treatments by governments and the pharmaceutical industry. Her tome is an interesting combination of scientific journal, memoir and history book. She reiterates the fantastical story of Mirko Beljanski and his heroic effort to seek natural cures and antidotes without toxic side effects. As his daughter, Sylvie Beljanski takes on the system and upholds his legacy by continuing to promote his research and products. This book’s controversial flavor makes for an exciting read. I would recommend it without reservation to those curious about the future of alternative medicine and, particularly, in the holistic treatment of cancers.

The topic of cancer is very relatable. Cancer does not discriminate, and everyone knows at least one person with the diagnosis. This book gives vital and well-researched information about the alternative for curing cancer. I am someone who believes in natural remedies, and I found nothing surprising while reading this work. Nature can heal us, but we have to allow it and accept it. My favorite part of this book is the fact that the author does not dismiss doctors or medical therapies. It just gives another option to use alongside traditional treatments or even use it as a prevention.
This book shines a light not just on cancer treatment but the horrible ways the pharmaceutical industry is ruling the world. Shockingly, the same people that want to cure us are also poisoning us. Financial gain has a long time ago surpassed human wellbeing. Furthermore, in this book Sylvie Beljanski is trying to clear her father's name while at the same time risking her job and marriage. In just ten chapters, this book provides a cohesive take on justice, health, family, sacrifice, and life.
Knowledge is the ultimate power. This is a perfect read for everyone interested in not just natural remedies for fighting cancer, but all readers curious about some technical information about cancer. Furthermore, if you have a loved one who is fighting this destructive disease, this is a must-read for you.

this book is great for people who are naïve about what cancer is doing to themselves. I embraced this book and learned that there are people out there who understand what the average joe is facing in life. I hope the author writes more and listens to people like me! Some people have all the degrees but forget that a book that clarifies is more important than knowing it all.

Big Pharma is conspiring against naturopathic cures. Before he died, more than 20 years ago, Dr. Mirko Beljanski found some “natural molecules” that could cure a variety of different cancers, HIV, fertility problems, malaria, and who knows what else. His daughter Sylvie is continuing the fight to prove the efficacy of her father’s findings. I hope I never get stuck sitting next to her on an airplane or at a dinner party.

Cancer, or at least its impact, is inescapable. While many billions of dollars and years of manpower have been poured into the subject, not much ground has been won against this enemy. In Winning the War on Cancer, Sylvie Beljanski presents alternatives that might not be the sole weapons used to conquer cancer but are capable of giving those suffering from it a fighting chance. And, they are natural!
Sylvie Beljanski's work is many things: a memoir of her father's studies, a narrative of her own struggles, and a research paper describing several plant extracts with extraordinary properties. The weaving together of the author's personal life and her father's research might have been disjointed if it were not for the sense of hope stringing all of the book's parts together. One avenue for publishing or testing the research closes, and Beljanski just pursues an alternative.
Since a large chunk of the book is about the pursuit to validate the work of the author's late father, Winning the War on Cancer reads almost like a story of vengeance at times. I feel that this is partly because the first time the author is approached to help her family, it is to fight for them in court. Sylvie Beljanski is a lawyer, not an expert in the medical field nor a scientist. Yet, I would say this does not detract from the overarching medical message because the overwhelming majority of scientific information presented is both cited and backed up by clinical studies.
I largely enjoyed reading this book, but the formatting often frustrated me. The author employs quite a few bulleted lists that are not cohesive (indents not justified, some lines are double bulleted). The choice to put a double line space or a single line space between paragraphs also appeared arbitrary. I know that some double line spaces were to delineate a scene break, but roughly half were breaking up directly linked paragraphs. However, my biggest issue with the formatting was the way that the text was italicized. Anything in italics was in a completely different font face from, and considerably smaller than, the rest of the line. Considering italics were used every time one of the extracts was called by name, a flashback was recalled, or the author chose to emphasize a phrase or paragraph, large portions of the text were a struggle to understand.
I ultimately chose to rate Winning the War on Cancer by Sylvie Beljanski at 4 out of 5 stars. While I truly believe there is valuable information to almost any reader in this book, there is extensive editing that still needs to be done. I am not sure if the book was professionally edited based on the number of repetitions of the same errors. If changes were made, I think anyone interested in reading about alternative medicine would enjoy this book. I would find another book if you are not willing to view natural remedies as potentially useful in the fight against disease.

Overcoming cancer awakens vigor and confidence inside you that makes you want to live intentionally every day. This belief birthed Winning the War on Cancer, a book written by Sylvie Beljanski. The book details the ordeals of a long journey for Sylvie. She is willing to rewrite her whole life and stake everything only to clear her father's name and make people aware of the Beljanski's tribute to the refinement of science.
This non-fiction book feigns that humans are the cause of their problems. Sylvie conveyed in detail just how frugal not only pharmaceutical corporations but also the government are and how quick they are to shut down anything that doesn't serve their interests. This book raises the alarm about the financial interests of pharmaceutical companies and the hidden agenda of elected officials. In that light, she shared how her father treated the French president, François Mitterrand, who had prostate cancer, with his extracts and prolonged his life enough to allow the president to serve a second term. Despite this heroic act, the same government killed him.
As a student studying to be a pharmacist in the future, medical books are my go-to resource at any juncture. Like other medical books, the book was voluminous, but there was never a dreary moment in this book. The book was very engaging, inspiring, and educative. The author's notions are comprehensive and insured by scientific investigation, published papers validated by experts in the profession, and treatment approaches for numerous kinds of cancer. The author’s writing style was clear and concise. The pictures included in this book aided my reading flow.
I strongly acknowledge the recuperation power of nature and have no suspicions when it comes to environmental medicine. I learned about the great benefits of Pereira, a tree native to the Amazon, and Rauwolfia vomitoria, an African root bark. Not only that, but I also understood how these molecules could selectively block cancerous cell multiplication without killing healthy cells. Sylvie does not dismiss medical therapies while vying for natural remedies.
One frustration I encountered while reading was with the book’s formatting. The indents are not justified, and some lines are double bulleted. Winning the War on Cancer, a non-fiction book, was written by Sylvie Beljanski. The curative potential of herbal remedies in the treatment of cancer and several other chronic diseases is further illuminated in this book.
The existence of a man by the name of Mirko Beljanski served as the central theme of this information-rich novel. It also included his confidence in attempting a distinctive cancer treatment. This inspired him to create biological compounds with the ability to stop the growth of malignant cells without affecting healthy cells. Sylvie, his daughter, was born. She continued his research when he passed away. This ultimately resulted in the birth of the Beljanski Foundation. She was unfamiliar with science and research concepts. Despite this, she decided to make an effort to preserve her father's legacy. With the support of his wife, Monique, he assisted many people who were in really difficult situations while he was still alive. Each chapter's title, which offered me a hint as to what to expect from the chapter, was a nice touch by the author. Additionally, Sylvie included quotes from other sources at the beginning of each chapter. This made the book even more distinctive. I found it easy to understand how the author expressed her research-based expertise in her writing. I was never confused because I am a science student undertaking a health-related course. So, I was familiar with all of the scientific terms. The pictures in this book serve to represent the information being conveyed in some way. This book was professionally edited because I only spotted one error in it.
I didn't encounter anything I hated while reading this book. I have no reason not to give this book a perfect rating of 5 out of 5 stars because I enjoyed reading it.

Behold: a cure-all! It treats cancer! It treats HIV! It treats everything! And there's not a single negative side effect! But you've never heard of it because of big, bad Pharma.
If something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Even if Big Pharma were trying to hide something as miraculous as the author claims these extracts are, word will eventually get out. Someone will pick up on it and start promoting it and selling it. Yet somehow this hasn't happened in the 2 decades since the author's father died, plus the decades he worked with these extracts. Something doesn't add up.
Then let's talk about the mechanism by which these extracts work: do they cure cancer (as the author claims in the first and third parts of the book) or do they increase platelet counts (middle part of the book)? Somehow the author never seems to notice that she's switching mechanisms in the middle, and never presents both at the same time. Which is it?
The author rails against the "snake oil salesmen" of old, but this whole book reads the same. She is masterful at crafting her argument. You're reading along, thinking "Yeah, that's true. Sure, of course. Yep, that's right. WAIT!!! Wait, no, that's not how science works at all!!!" She draws you in with a series of facts and good science, only to pivot in a final sentence and present something scientifically impossible--but if you're not paying close attention you'll miss it because you've been drawn into her logic build.
I spent a long time debating whether to give this book 1 or 2 stars, but it was the final couple chapters that pushed me to 1 star. The author starts going off on environmental pollution, personal "detoxification", and any number of other topics that are probably aimed at making her story more personal to the reader but still doesn't do anything else to actually shore up the science. I have to end on one final point that would be ironic if the author doesn't seem so completely oblivious to it: she states that had been treating herself with her natural extracts for 6 months prior to her getting diagnosed with cancer. Too bad they didn't work such a miracle on her as they did on every other person she mentioned in the whole book.

"Winning the War on Cancer" is a must-read for anyone looking to understand the challenges of thinking outside the box in our medical system. In these pages Sylvie brings to life an incredible story of how her father's pioneering work to understand and fight cancer was almost squashed by the French government--and how she formed the Beljanski Foundation to carry on her father's research and legacy.
It is also a timely narrative given the current state of our healthcare system, which focuses almost exclusively on treating illness with expensive drugs that come with a host of terrible side effects when, in many cases, a cheaper, safer, and more effective remedy lies in Nature. Why don't we hear about them? Because, as Sylvie writes, a lot of people profit from the status quo and are threatened by any challenges to it. Profit over people, plain and simple.

This was a really easy read, and it offers some good insight and interesting developments in cancer treatment. It's well cited, and I need to check out some more of those citations. It suffers slightly from a too familiar writing style, but that could also be a way to get this information into more hands so that's a personal preference I think. My biggest issue is that I can't find much to flesh out the Beljanski story outside of this, which clearly has an ulterior motive to show the man and the research in the best light. So I'm going to do some looking into this on my own. I'd recommend it for anyone who is fighting or knows someone who is fighting cancer. Rather than a natural-only method that could easily devolve into "pour some essential oils on it," the system advocates for a combination type therapy which puts commonly accepted treatments--chemotherapy, radiation and surgery--together with these extracts to be more effective. If the research holds up, it seems to be fantastic and could change the way that we fight cancer. And since it would be in tandem with other treatments, my thought on it is "might as well try."

She works for the Beljanski Foundation, a cancer research center that looks into new cancer treatment and is carrying on the work of her Father. Her Father faced great opposition and she is determined to carry on his valuable work. Sylvie shares her experience as the daughter of scientists. As a young child, she felt neglected by her parents for their love of discovery. Only as an adult, after experiencing a life-changing event that Sylvie began to truly appreciate the work that her parents, especially her father did. She soon took up her father's mantle and sought to continue his legacy.
Despite this book having many medical terms and references, I really enjoyed reading it. It was informative and moving. However, the use of jargon can be a drawback for some readers.
It was interesting to learn and discover the magnitude of nature's power to heal many illnesses. It is tragic that despite the amazing discoveries by Mirko Beljanski, persons will not truly benefit from it because of the policies that govern the use of natural remedies for healing.

I was given this book because I have recently been diagnosed with cancer and fighting my "own" war on cancer. This book is not about an individual fight, but is about how governments, medical officials, and pharmaceutical companies regulate treatments for cancer. This book claims to have a cure for cancer though the above listed entities have attempted to destroy and delay the release of the cure.
The book is well written and emotionally charged. It is a bout one man's discovery and how his government attempted to end it. Then his daughter seizes an opportunity to keep hope alive and struggles with the three as well.

A harrowing (and surprising) history of the persecution of Mirko Beljanski and the suppression of his work. I was surprised that Big Pharma could wield such a heavy hand in France ___ thought this was only true in the U.S. The scientific discussion of the Beljanski compound and how it works was a bit detailed but necessary. The specific compound is expensive (find it on Amazon) so I am unable to buy it as a preventative, but should I develop cancer, I will certainly look into it.

Very interesting for everyone who is concerned with cancer. It clearly and scientifically exposes how cells become cancerous (destabilization from carcinogens, which is more frequent than mutation but highly underestimated), and presents a non-toxic solution to fight it. What I liked the most was the accuracy of the research, as well as the courage of this family throughout the years. Congratulations to Sylvie Beljanski and their team for this wonderful work !

This book is about several herbs that are taken to get rid of cancer. This is the story how the French government arrested him and took away all his records and labs. Apparently the French government is no better than big Pharma in us.

I enjoyed this book so much more than I thought I would! It doesn't read like a non fiction, but it is. I finished it so encouraged that there is a real cure for cancer I want to get this book into everyone's hand.

A very interesting memoir describing how science and government regulation of pharmaceuticals is so easily corrupted by money and the influence of people in power, and the efforts made by those in defiance of such corruption.
